Mortimer John Donahue, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 14th, 2018, under the care of Kindred Hospice, with his loving wife by his side.
Born June 2nd, 1935, he was the beloved husband of Jean Donahue for 37 years.
He also leaves behind to cherish his memory 6 children, sons; Kevin of Pompano Beach, FL, Shaun of Bath, NH, Mort of Campton, NH, Christopher, of Holderness, NH, daughters; Nancy of Manchester, NH and Sheila of Solvay, NY, as well as his brother Donald, of Lawrence, MA. He also leaves 7 grand-children and twin great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Prior to retirement, Mort enjoyed a successful career in accounting, serving as finance director for Belknap County, NH and Nantucket, MA. He also served as a controller for the private sector, including Thompson Center Arms and Lake Aircraft in NH, as well as the American Stage & Mahaffey theaters in St. Petersburg, FL.
He loved traveling the world, going to the symphony and playing golf with his friends.
He was a generous and kind man, and will be missed by many.
The family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages on Tuesday, Feb. 20th, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, Summerfield on Wed. Feb. 21st, 2018 at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at a later date in Highland Memorial Park, Ocala, FL.
