Michigan snowbird returns to find jewelry missing from his home in The Villages

A Michigan snowbird returned to find jewelry and other items missing from his home in The Villages.

The 73-year-old returned Dec. 28 to his home on Chula Court in the Village of El Cortez. He has been gone since April.

Items missing include a Bulova gold-plated watch valued at $800, a Timex gold-plated watch valued at $250, a man’s 14K gold ring valued at $400, a man’s 14K gold ring valued at $375 and a 14K gold man’s pinky ring valued at $680, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Also taken were a large glass jar containing about $3,000 in loose change and a 40-inch television.

The man said the only people who had access to his house during his absence were his pest control company and his cleaning lady. He indicated he trusts those people and does not think they were involved in the theft of items.
