Mary M. Watkins

Mary Louise Moore Watkins, age 93, of Wildwood, Florida, passed away on February 16, 2018. She was born on November 24, 1924 in Metter, Georgia to Rohnie and Louise (Cooper) Moore.

She is survived by her daughter Lynn (Mark) Schroeder of Cary, North Carolina, her daughter Laura (Rich) Ondriezek of Wildwood and her grandchildren, Kylie and Kody Ondriezek. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1997 and her son Tim in 2016.

Mary grew up in Lyons, Georgia. She moved to Florida in the 1940s, and was a Home Demonstration Representative for Florida Power, helping families learn to use the new electrical appliances in their homes. In 1951, she married Paul Watkins, her husband of 46 years, and was a homemaker in Wildwood. Her fried chicken, pound cake and Christmas cookies were enjoyed by many. She was also a teacher’s aide at Wildwood High School, working with vocational students. Mary and Paul and their family enjoyed trips to a mountain cabin in Franklin, North Carolina. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a very active member of First Presbyterian, and First Baptist Church of Wildwood.

Visitation and Services will be Saturday, February 24th at First Baptist Church at 402 Oxford Street in Wildwood. Visitation at 10 a.m. followed by memorial service at 11 a.m. followed by Graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Wildwood.
