Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox is warning residents about a potentially misleading voter registration mailing sent by the Center for Voter Information (CVI).
This Washington, D.C.-based organization has in the past used outdated and often incorrect data to mail pre-filled Florida Voter Registration Applications to already registered voters, deceased family members, minors and pets, Wilcox said.
“Our office has received a multitude of complaints from voters who are irate and confused by the unofficial mailings and mistakenly believe they originated from the Supervisor of Elections office,” he said. “Please be advised that neither the Marion County Supervisor of Elections nor the Florida Secretary of State has printed or mailed these letters and are in no way affiliated.”
Voters should direct their questions, complaints and concerns about the mailing directly to the CVI at (202) 766-6575. They also can visit their website at www.centerforvoterinformation.org.
