Marion County Supervisor of Elections ready to unveil Veterans Wall of Honor

Wesley Wilcox

Marion County is preparing to unveil a Veterans Wall of Honor dedicated to those who fought and died to protect the freedoms Americans hold so dearly.

The memorial, located at the Marion County Supervisor of Elections office at 981 NE 16th Street in Ocala, will be unveiled May 30 at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Wall of Honor is located in the early voting room at the facility and will serve as a reminder to residents about the sacrifices veterans have made to protect such freedoms as the privilege to cast a ballot.

The wall features a mural accompanied by digital photos and biographies of veterans and active-duty service members connected to Marion County. It includes those who have served in peacetime or wartime, past or present.

Marion County boasts a legacy of military service and is home to more than 35,000 veterans. Those who wish to submit a veteran’s biography can download and submit a form that’s available at VoteMarion.com/Veterans.
