Marion County Supervisor of Elections office warns of confusing political mailer

Marion County citizens are advised to be on the lookout for the latest unofficial political mailer originating from an out-of-state group that may be misleading and inaccurate.

Earlier this month, similar mailings were sent by the Center for Voter Information (CVI), which have in the past used outdated and often incorrect data to solicit voter registrations.

Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox is warning residents about this out-of-state mailer that is proving to be confusing to some voters.

The mailings reportedly have been addressed to already registered voters and deceased persons indicating that they may not be registered to vote. The mailer also includes a blank voter registration form.

“Our office is receiving numerous complaints from citizens and voters that have received this letter in error,” a statement from the Marion County Supervisor of Elections office says. “Please be advised that neither the Marion County Supervisor of Elections nor the Florida Secretary of State has printed or mailed these letters and are in no way affiliated with this group. Additionally, the misinformation on these mailers is not a reflection of your voter registration record with our office.”

For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding voter registration, visit VoteMarion.com to check voter status or call the office at (352) 620-3290.
