Marion County adding new, lighted pickleball courts at Coehadjoe Park

Eight new pickleball courts are under construction at Coehadjoe Park, 4225 NE 35th St., Ocala, in response to requests from the community during Marion County Parks and Recreation’s master plan process.
As one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation, pickleball facilities are a common request for reservations throughout Marion County. The park’s existing dual-purpose tennis/pickleball courts are no longer able to meet the growing demand. While there are several privately owned pickleball courts locally, Coehadjoe’s will be the first dedicated courts for public use.
The new courts will feature lighting, accessible sidewalks, spectator areas and dedicated parking. Construction will continue to affect only those portions of the park actively undergoing transformation, which includes the tennis, volleyball and basketball courts as well as the Wild Cat Natural Play Area.
Originally developed in 2000 as part of the Pennies for Parks initiative, Coehadjoe Park maintains its ranking among favorites for nature lovers and recreational enthusiasts alike.
