Man who violated Ohio court order arrested after altercation at home in The Villages

Jeremy Horton

A 30-year-old man found to be in violation of an Ohio order of protection was arrested after an altercation at a home in The Villages.

Jeremy Horton struck a man multiple times in the torso area and pushed him in the chest, causing him to hit his head on a door frame, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim warned deputies that Horton is an alcoholic and likely would be violent. Horton told a deputy he “is an alcoholic and drinks anything alcohol-based to satisfy his addiction.”

The deputy noted in his report that, “Mr. Horton stated on a daily basis he is usually ‘black out drunk.’”

It was clear an altercation had taken place as items were thrown on the ground and broken, according to the report.

The victim declined medical attention and signed a waiver of prosecution. The exact location of the home where the altercation occurred was redacted from the arrest report.

The deputy found that the victim had obtained in 2015 an order of protection in Medina County, Ohio. The order does not expire until 2020.

Horton had been living “as a family” with the victim at the home in The Villages in violation of the order of protection.

In 2013 in Valley City, Ohio, Horton had been arrested after a traffic stop. He took a breath test that showed he had a blood alcohol level of .197. In 2015, Horton had been arrested after making threats to a resident in Liverpool Township, Ohio.

Horton was booked Monday at the Sumter County Detention Center on charges of contempt of court and battery. Bond was set at $5,000.
