Man trying door handles of vehicles attracts attention of law enforcement at Target

A man who was spotted trying door handles of vehicles attracted the attention of law enforcement Wednesday morning at Target at Rolling Acres Plaza.

A Lady Lake police officer responded to the parking lot at 8 a.m. and found 30-year-old Nicholas Joseph Campasano of Clermont in the men’s department of the store. The officer discovered that Campasano was wanted on warrants charging him with violating his probation on charges of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance. He was also found to be in possession of heroin.

As the officer attempted to place Campasano in the back of a patrol car, Campasano attempted to flee on foot. Once he was detained, he continued to kick and try to break free.

A search of his vehicle turned up an eyeglasses case which contained several needles, a spoon and several empty baggies.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $4,000 bond.
