Man in truck picks up ‘pretty’ woman on run after botched shoplifting spree at Wal-Mart

Emily Rogers

A man in a truck gave a lift to a “pretty” woman on Sunday who was on the run after a botched shoplifting spree at Wal-Mart at Summerfield.

Emily Elizabeth Rogers, 25, told the man in the truck she was being chased and needed a ride, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

She was being pursued by Wal-Mart personnel who had spotted Rogers putting merchandise in a bag. She was confronted after she attempted to leave the store with $313 in stolen merchandise. She put down the bag and fled on foot.

They didn’t get too far down the road before they were stopped by deputies.

The man in the Ford Ranger said she “was pretty and he thought he would help her,” the arrest report said.

A search revealed Rogers was in possession of syringes and methamphetamine.

She was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
