Man tasered at father’s home at On Top of the World in Ocala

A man was tasered after threatening law enforcement with a sword at his father’s home at On Top of the World in Ocala.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday to 8645 SW 94th Street B, according to an arrest report.

The deputies encountered 45-year-old Christopher Newby who immediately swore at them and refused to comply with their commands. Newby was armed with a wooden practice katana sword when he threatened a deputy.

Newby was tasered by a deputy. He also spit on the deputy.

A crack pipe was found in Newby’s pocket.

He was arrested on charges of battery and assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of drug equipment.

He was booked at the Marion County Jail on $11,000 bond.
