Man with marijuana arrested after traffic stop at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages

Brandon Lamar Johnson

A man with marijuana was arrested after a traffic stop Monday night at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages.

Brandon Lamar Johnson, 32, of Wildwood, had been driving a white Chevy Camaro shortly after 7 p.m. when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the vehicle had a non-functioning taglight.

Johnson had a clear plastic bag on his lap that contained a green leafy substance. When he stepped out of the car, the bag fell to the ground and Johnson attempted to kick it under the car.

He was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession and was also cited for unknowingly driving while license suspended.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
