A 53-year-old Bushnell man has been jailed without bond after allegedly stabbing another man in a bar in an ongoing dispute over a woman.

Steven Bruce McKenney, 53, is accused of stabbing a 58-year-old man during a fight Wednesday night at the Woodshed Pub in Bushnell.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 8:54 p.m.,  to the bar in the 7900 block of West County Road 48.  When deputies arrived, they found the victim with puncture wounds to his torso. He was airlifted on trauma alert to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center.

McKenney, who had left prior to law enforcement’s arrival, was located at his residence in the 9600 block of County Road 622 in Bushnell. He cooperated with deputies and detectives, and was later arrested after being interviewed at the sheriff’s office. McKenney and the victim were involved in a previous physical altercation over a sexual encounter the victim had with McKenney’s wife, and last night’s incident is part of their ongoing dispute.

McKenney is being held in the Sumter County Detention Center with no bond.
