Man free on bond after shoplifting arrest lands back behind bars thanks to window tint violation

Ovidiu Bumbu

A man who was free on bond after a shoplifting arrest, landed back behind bars thanks to a window tint violation.

Ovidiu Bumbu, 39, had been driving a silver Scion at 5:52 p.m. Sunday northbound on Powell Road in Wildwood when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed that the vehicle had “very dark tinted windows.” A traffic stop took place at County Road 44A and Powell Road.

A K-9 unit was summoned and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs. A vaporizing device was found in the vehicle as well as a tube containing highly concentrated marijuana oil.

Bumbu was free on bond following his arrest earlier this month in the attempted theft of Jockey underwear from Kohl’s in Lady Lake.

Bumbu was arrested on charges of drug possession and possession of drug equipment.

He was booked on $3,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

He was issued a written warning for the window tint violation.
