Man found with items to make methamphetamine arrested at Circle K in Summerfield

A man was arrested  early Wednesday after being found with items to make methamphetamine at a Circle K in Summerfield.

Kenneth Maxwell

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Circle K located at 14870 South U.S. Hwy. 441 in reference to a follow-up case involving theft, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, deputies observed 24-year-old Kenneth Patrick Maxwell who was walking away from the Circle K and wearing a black backpack. Deputies conducted a search of the backpack. The search turned up items used to produce methamphetamine, including camping gas fluid, drain-o, salt, lithium batteries, a plastic bottle containing white liquid and coffee filters. Used and unused syringes were also found in the backpack.

Maxwell claimed the backpack did not belong to him. Drug agents confirmed the items as ingredients to make methamphetamine. A small amount of the liquid substance found in the plastic bottle tested positive for methamphetamine.

Maxwell was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.
