Man arrested after drinking ‘a couple beers’ at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square

Keith Andre Rodriguez

A man was arrested on a drunk driving charge after admitting to drinking “a couple beers” at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.

Keith Andre Rodriguez, 43, of Lady Lake, had been driving a black Hyundai sedan at 10:49 p.m. Sunday when he ran a redlight near the square, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

During a traffic stop in the parking lot at the nearby Winn-Dixie, he indicated he was heading to Lady Lake after leaving Lake Sumter Landing.

He was asked if he had been drinking.

“I’ve had a couple beers while at the square,” he said.

He failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $3,000.
