Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Wal-Mart located on 17961 S. U.S. Hwy. 441 in reference to a theft, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the store’s asset protection associate who said he observed 59-year-old Keith Lee Richter of Leesburg load five items into a cart in the garden section. The items totaled $349.37. Richter then went to the general merchandise entrance, passed all points of sale and was stopped prior to exiting the store. Richter stated he was going to get another cart to “put more stuff in.” The incident was captured on video surveillance.

Richter was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
