A man was arrested Monday afternoon after attempting to walk out of Kohl’s in a pair of stolen shoes.
David Dean Shrout, 48, of Fruitland Park, entered the store shortly before 4 p.m., went to the shoe department and put on a pair of black-and-gray New Balance shoes valued at $71.99, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He attempted to leave the store, wearing the shoes, but was detained by the store’s loss prevention officer. He is suspected in the theft of another pair of New Balance shoes on April 23 at the same store.
Shrout was arrested on a charge of retail theft and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
In 2017, Shrout had been arrested in a theft case at Best Buy.
