A long-embattled Fruitland Park official has been fired after conduct in December at a meeting of the city’s Planning an Zoning Board.
Charlie Rector was terminated Jan. 26 from his position as the city’s community development director.
He reportedly gave false information to the board members at the December meeting.
Rector had been the subject of a 2015 Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation after he reportedly spent city time converting a home into a bed-and-breakfast. The property was owned by then-Fruitland Park Mayor Christopher Bell. Bell is still a commissioner.
