Leesburg police looking for suspect in armed robbery at Krystal restaurant

Leesburg police are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery Saturday afternoon at the Krystal restaurant.

Police were called at 4:33 p.m. to the restaurant at 815 N. 14th St.

The gunman entered the restaurant, pointed a silver revolver at the clerk and demanded all of the money in the register and the safe. After the clerk and manager on duty complied, the suspect ran out of the store, toward a wooded area at the rear of the business. Officers established an immediate perimeter and a police K-9 team initiated a track with negative results.

The suspect has been described as a black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, black pants, with a black shirt covering his face and green-and-orange Nike shoes. He is 18 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds.

Detectives are comparing case similarities between other recent robberies in the North Lake County area, and they continue to work several investigative leads in those cases as well.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (352) 728-9862 or Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
