League of Women Voters plans events to encourage voter turnout in Nov. 6 general election

The League of Women Voters of The Villages/Tri-County is planning two upcoming events that are open to the public.

On Monday, Sept. 24, the group will meet at Community Bank & Trust of Florida, 2285 Parr Drive. The League’s board members will present the challenges and opportunities open to members in an effort to expand informed voter turnout.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the League will host a candidate meet-and-greet at Colony Cottage Recreation Center, 510 Colony Blvd. Candidates from Lake, Marion and Sumter counties who are running in the Nov. 6 general election have been invited to the event, which lasts from 1 to 3 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to ask questions in an effort to be better informed before heading to the polls in November.
