Lady Lake police nab teens who carjacked elderly woman’s vehicle

Lady Lake police nabbed two teens who this weekend carjacked an elderly woman’s vehicle at a Leesburg hotel.

Lady Lake police at 2:24 a.m. Sunday joined in the pursuit of the stolen Toyota Rav4 as it entered the town’s southern limits.

The stolen vehicle was already being pursued by Fruitland Park police.

The vehicle was traveling at 100 miles per house and ran two squad cars off the road.

It crashed, rolling over fives times, at the intersection of Griffinview Drive and Sullen Drive.

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old, both from Orlando, were taken into custody.

The car had been stolen a short time earlier from an elderly woman staying at the Quality Inn in Leesburg.

Inside the stolen vehicle, officers found a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol which had been reported stolen in Osceola County.

The teens are also suspects in an armed robbery Saturday at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Leesburg as well as a burglary at PhoneWorld in Leesburg.
