A Lady Lake man was arrested late Tuesday night after a Lake County deputy stopped him for following too closely behind another vehicle.
Paul Hindy Gaillard, 33, was traveling north in his silver Chrysler on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in the area of Griffin View Drive when he was pulled over. A check of his driver’s license showed that it was suspended April 14 for driving under the influence. A further check also revealed that it was suspended April 30 for failure to pay a traffic fine and again May 23 for failing to attend a traffic school. And Gaillard has been previously cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Gaillard claimed he had a 60-day work permit to drive but was unable to produce paperwork to back up that claim. A further check also revealed that such a permit was never issued to him, a sheriff’s office report states.
Gaillard was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail, where he was charged with driving while knowing his license was suspended. He was released early Wednesday morning on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Lake County courtroom July 25 at 8 a.m.
