Lady Lake man already on probation arrested after alleged attack on live-in girlfriend

Jose Morales

A Lady Lake man already on probation was arrested after an alleged attack on his live-in girlfriend.

Lady Lake police responded at 12:41 p.m. Wednesday to 201 Longview Ave. and took 31-year-old Jose Morales into custody on a charge of domestic battery.

Morales and his girlfriend of seven years had been engaged in an altercation in which she suffered swelling above her right eye and scratches on her arm and chest, according to the arrest report. A witness said every time the woman attempted to leave the bedroom, Morales would grab her by the hair and pull her back in.

The girlfriend was not cooperative with police.

Police discovered that Morales had begun a one-year probationary sentence on Jan. 3 on a previous charge of misdemeanor battery.

He was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.
