John Wesley Brooks, Sr., 90, Leesburg, Florida passed away on May 6, 2018 at his residence in Leesburg, Florida with his loving daughter by his side. Mr. Brooks was born on October 11, 1927 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland to his parents James McKinley Brooks and Janie Marie (Holly) Brooks. He was a retired Security Officer for the United States Postal Service. He moved to Leesburg in 2009 from Burke, Virginia and was of the Episcopal faith. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved watching sporting events, collecting coins, magazines and liked horse racing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his son: John W. Brooks, Jr. also known as JJ of Woodbridge, VA; two daughters: JoAnn Brooks of Burke, VA and Janis Brooks of Leesburg, FL; a grandson: Teon Grant and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Doris Brooks and all his brothers and sisters. Graveside Services to be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD at a time to be announced.
