John F. “Jack” Kiley Jr. of The Villages, FL, was born on July 3, 1930 to John Francis Kiley Sr. and Florentine Rogers Kiley in Little Falls, NY.
Jack began his career as a realtor in Michigan and moved to Florida to work on developing Orange Blossom Gardens. When Jack started with the company in early 1983, 20 homes had been sold. By 1990, over 600 homes were being sold annually and Orange Blossom Gardens had become The Villages. Jack then started First Village Realty, specializing in the sale of previously owned homes. In 1995, the company was purchased and Jack retired.
Jack cared deeply about his community. During his years working in Florida, Jack was an active officer of the Lady Lake Kiwanis Club and the Leesburg Board of Realtors, served on the Board of Directors for the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce, and was president of the Lake County Affiliate Board of the Florida Symphony Orchestra.
Jack also had a strong and loving relationship with God. He was incredibly active in North Lake Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and served three terms on the Session. He helped to design and build the Memorial Garden, volunteered with the food pantry, and served with the buddy program for elderly church members. He was also the first president of the board of directors for Love INC., a community of churches brought together through their commitment to service.
For recreation, Jack liked to boat and deep-sea dive – especially night dives. He loved to golf but said that golf did not like him.
But above all else, Jack loved and was loved by his family; he will be greatly missed.
He leaves his devoted wife Judith Ellen Kiley, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, and four children from a prior marriage: John (and Vicki) Kiley, Shawn Kiley, Susan (and Raji) Salomon, and Christopher (and Gerry) Kiley. He also had great relationships with his step-children and their spouses: Katherine (and Keith) Overby, Anne (and Rick) Vincent, Lisa (and Scott) Bradley, and Tom (and Michele) Shoan. Through this beloved blended family, he also leaves twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Jean Boies, his brother, Lawrence Kiley, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents and two sons, Timothy and David.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday April 20, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to: Love INC of the Heart of Florida or The Christian Food Pantry, a ministry of North Lake Presbyterian Church.
