Jennie “Jean” L. Brown, 79, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 at the Brandley Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Arkansas on September 3, 1937 to the late James and Cleme Randall. Jean married her late husband Richard L. Brown, Sr. on June 7, 1958. They moved to Aurora, Illinois where they raised their family. Jean went to cosmetology school and earned her license in 1975, working in the hair salon business for over 20 years.

Over the years she collected many forms of music that she enjoyed listening to, especially Elvis. After moving to The Villages in 1989 she loved nature, live music, the pool and finding a treasure at local thrift stores. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Jackie Tomczak of Chicago, her son Richard L. Brown, Jr. and his wife Anita of Belleview, FL, her dear friends Minnie Csendes and Ralph Salsbury of Belleview, FL and Ella Brown of Ocala, FL. She also leaves granddaughters Stephanie and Suzy Brown, grandsons Robby Brown, Chris Whisenant, Craig Whisenant and his wife Amy and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Brown, Sr. and her grandson Brandon Osada.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, June 19 at the Beyers Funeral Home at 134 North Highway 27/441 in Lady Lake, FL. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Burial in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL will follow.
