James ‘Ed’ Morris

James “Ed” Morris, 86, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully in his home on January 19, 2018. He was born on March 23, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to James and Dula Morris.

Ed graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL and enlisted in the Air Force. He served in the Air Police working security for the atom bomb during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Tampa studying Business Management. He had a long and successful career in warehouse management for over 45 years, retiring in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ed was an avid bridge and poker player and enjoyed playing golf. He and his wife loved dancing and traveling. He was active in the Amigos and the Bacall Key Largo Club. Ed also worked for Golf Management Solutions (GMS) for five years as both an Ambassador and a Starter and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie with The Village residents.

Ed is survived by his wife, Carol Bicknell Morris; son, Jack Morris (Angela); stepdaughter, Deborah Poulin Greengard (Doug); stepson, Jimmy Poulin; grandchildren, Peyton Morris, Nick and Tyler Greengard, Jessica Prados, Michael LeBlanc, Samantha and Matthew Poulin; great grandson, Brayden Zuk, along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Francis (Frank); sister, Mary Jo Cox; eight additional half-brothers and sisters; and stepdaughter Kathryn Poulin LeBlanc.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E CR 462, Wildwood, FL 34785 on Friday, February 2 at 1 p.m. A reception will be held at Colony Cottage, 510 Colony Blvd, The Villages, FL 32162 following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 or at cornerstonehospicefoundation.org.
