Inmate dies after being rushed to hospital following suicide attempt

An inmate has died after an attempted suicide at the Marion County Jail on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office confirmed today that inmate Diana Eldredge, 49, died after being taken to Munroe Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Eldredge had been booked at the jail on Feb. 24 on a charge of grand theft with a $2,000 bond.

Investigators with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating the incident.
