Husbands United (a secret society) is so successful because of the senior members of the organization. We have been very lucky in assembling a cadre of the male species who are supremely equipped to deal with the various moods, questions etc., of members of the other sex. It has not been an easy journey, but there is no doubt that we can come up with answers to the various problems that men get themselves into – often without even trying. I will admit that it is true on some occasions that there is no answer to certain problems that arise in dealing with the distaff side, but in 98.3 percent of the time the answer is there. In the other 1.7 percent we generally recommend prayer.
Heck, even my youngest son was helped the other day by one of our offshoots in Orlando. Naturally, I cannot discuss the matter, but it was handed supremely well, although Orlando did have to check with us. (They are not quite ready to stand alone). Generally speaking handling issues with the opposite sex is just a matter of common sense along with a good deal of empathy. In fact, if one is careful and thoughtful one can avoid a crises ever happening. For example, the other day, I surprised The Blonde in the house by taking her out to dinner at Johnny Rockets.
Why Johnny Rockets you ask? Well, being thoughtful I realized that mashing up my knee caused us to have to cancel our cruise. The cruise was to be on one of those huge ships that can handle 6,000 people who for some reason want to sail the briny on a big ship. The point is that one of the gourmet restaurants on the ship on which we were scheduled to cruise was none other than a Johnny Rockets. Thus, you can obviously see that taking her to the very same restaurant right here in The Villages helped compensate for my falling on my knee and having to cancel our aquatic journey. By the way, we had excellent hot dogs there. I can’t believe that they would have been any better on shipboard.
Thus, it is obvious this example is just one of the traits that makes the senior cadre of Husbands United (a secret society) do so well in the scheme of things. We will have a meeting soon (can’t say when or where) during which we will be faced with solving problems of varying stripes from minor to catastrophic. (The latter are the most fun to straighten out.) Sometimes even we are surprised by what comes before us – but again experience wins out! In case, anyone is worried about the senior cadre retiring or whatever, please be assured that we have a junior cadre that is diligently working as well. If a senior member leaves, one of them is ready to step up! Husbands United is a long term organization!
There is one matter that would increase my thoughtfulness. The ship we were to cruise on had a Merry-Go-Round. Do any of you know if there is one around here aside from the big theme parks – within reasonable driving distance?
