A 27-year-old Wildwood man is facing a felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly attempted to run over his wife with an automobile.

Wildwood police had responded to the 700 block of Lee Street at about 9:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call.

A woman told police her husband had come home from work and attempted to choke her. He then let go of her, took her phone and left. The man drove to his wife’s mother’s house on Lee Street. The wife walked with another woman to the residence to retrieve her phone. The two women said that is when he tried to back over his wife in the automobile.

Police arrested Alcides Jorge Jomarron Pla. He was being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
