To the Editor:
Don Henderson, CEO, in a Sept. 19 news release presented data showing The Villages Regional Hospital’s record on patient outcomes, which all hospitals track.
It’s a standard all hospitals use to measure if they are successfully treating patients. We should be concerned about outcomes because we all want to have successful treatment for our medical issues.
But outcomes are not the whole picture. Mr. Henderson’s statistics speak to patient outcomes, not patient satisfaction. Any hospital worth its salt will have good outcomes. The better hospitals are just as concerned for patient satisfaction as outcomes. His presentation does nothing to address the long waits for care. I’d like to hear from Mr. Henderson on the statistics of patient satisfaction, also.
