Honest John’s delivers classic feel with modern touch

Honest John's Whiskey and Provisions in Lake Sumter Landing
Honest John’s Whiskey and Provisions opened this past May in Lake Sumter Landing

Honest John’s Whiskey and Provisions is a relatively new restaurant at Lake Sumter Landing. Located at 1045 Old Camp Road, the establishment officially opened this past May in the location that formerly housed TGI Friday’s. The restaurant offers diners the opportunity to combine their favorite foods with a vast collection of spirits in a pub-like atmosphere.

From the staff’s all black uniforms, to the dim lighting and bare table arrangements, honest John’s combines traditional settings with a hint of modernity. The large booths and high-top tables give the restaurant a 1920’s bar/pub feeling, while the menu is as classic as they come.

Poutine is a traditional Canadian dish with fries, gravy, and curds.

The menu features popular pub favorites like poutine, pork belly, wings, and even housemade bratwursts. Portions are generous, so you should make sure to bring a friend or two to enjoy some of their appetizers. Like any good pub, their sandwich menu is extensive. What separates this establishment from a traditional pub, however, is the entrée and steak dishes that might be enough to share with a spouse or friend. With any dish, wait staff is happy to suggest appropriate spirits pairings for those in need of recommendations.

As the name suggests, Honest John’s boasts dozens of spirits (namely, whisky and scotch) and offers visitors a variety of options in sampling said liquors. Although they specialize in whiskey and scotch, their large selection of spirits is not limited to the “brown devils” they have in house. Winos and beer drinkers alike week have no problem finding alternative options.

If you’re looking for a new place with a new dining experience in The Villages, you might take a trip down to Lake Sumter Landing with your loved ones to give Honest John’s a try. Tell them Villages-News.com sent you, and make sure to send us a message afterwards to let us know how your trip went!
