A Villager whose lawn is under attack by mole crickets pleaded for more time to bring her property back into compliance.
Her home at 1096 Vance Trail in the Village of Caroline was the subject of a public hearing Friday morning before the Community Development District 6 Board of Supervisors.
The property is under the name of Barbara Lurey, but she now goes by the name of Brianna French.
Community Standards hadn’t had much success contacting French. Letters were sent, but were not answered. She indicated she had been away in November and December.
Her lawn has suffered substantial damage caused by the mole crickets which are attracted to moisture. The mole crickets showed up around the time of Hurricane Irma.
“Most people say I have the best looking house on the street. Nobody is more upset about these mole crickets than me,” French told the supervisors.
She said she has hired a company to treat her lawn on a monthly basis.
“It just takes time. I am sorry my lawn looks like that,” French said.
The board agreed to give French until Oct. 1 to bring the yard into compliance.
“I do feel for your situation. I do know about mole crickets,” CDD 6 Chair Sally Moss said.
