A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to SW 60th Ave. in reference to a battery, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who advised he was battered by a homeless man, who was later identified as 31-year-old Demetrius L. Reddick. The victim stated that Reddick punched him and when he fell to the ground, Reddick then kicked him in the face and fled the scene on a bicycle. The attack happened after the victim asked Reddick to leave his property, and although unprovoked, Reddick became angry and began battering the victim.

The deputy spoke with a homeless witness, who said he saw that Reddick had “body slammed” the victim and began kicking him in the head. An assisting deputy who responded to the area observed Reddick in the 4600 block of SW College Road. The deputy brought the victim to the assisting deputy’s location and positively identified Reddick as the man who had attacked him.

Reddick was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
