A resident of the Historic Side of The Villages was arrested after a traffic stop Saturday night at Lake Sumter Landing.
Eber Edward Simpson, 66, of 1504 W. Schwartz Blvd., had been driving a red Chrysler sedan with a malfunctioning taillight shortly before 10 p.m. in the area of Lake Sumter Landing and Lakeshore Drive when he was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy.
During the traffic stop, Simpson admitted he did not have a Florida’s driver’s license and the Texas native said his out-of-state driver’s license has been suspended. In addition, he could not provide the vehicle’s registration and proof of insurance.
He was arrested on a charge of driving without a valid driver’s license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $500 bond.Â
