Here’s one for Barry Evans

I can match Barry Evans’ lack of musical ability!

To the Editor:

For Barry Evans: I just read your column about musical ability, or lack of it. Fear not! For 50 years, I’ve been telling friends I’d give anything to be able to sing. I was in my church’s childrens’ choir when I was a kid, and had major problems with pitch even then. But when my voice changed, it was over.
BUT…  I’ve been a professional musician (organ, piano, and a little guitar) for almost 50 years, and currently play in a band called The Core here in The Villages. I was called upon years ago in a local cover band in Erie, Pa. to do one part in one song, and that covered my entire vocal range. Remember the first voice in Ba- ba- ba- ba- Barbara Ann? I thought my wife at the time was gonna have a stroke when she saw a microphone in front of me. I thought I was gonna have one when I heard my voice come out of the PA.
So, yes, good old western Pennsylvania is another tie between. But perhaps most intriguing is Ireland. My lovely wife and I leave in a few weeks for our fourth trip to the Auld Sod, mainly to tour the countryside, but also to visit many cousins we haven’t seen for a few years.
