Golfers encouraged to sign up for Cure SMA Golf Tournament for SMA Families

The 2017 Cure SMA Golf Tournament for SMA Families in The Villages will be held Sept. 24 at Hacienda Hills Country Club.

The event is to raise money and awareness in the fight to save babies born with SMA (spinal muscular atrophy).

Last year, the tourney was a fundraiser for a child named Henry White.

“We have since become aware of how many families, just in The Villages location, are impacted with family members that had or currently have SMA. So this year we have renamed the event the 2017 Cure SMA Golf for SMA Families in the Villages, Florida,” said Amber Snyder of Cure SMA.

“By participating in this event as a golfer, with an ad or as a sponsor, you are helping us to spread awareness about the disease and to take another step towards eradicating it,” she said.

Entry fee is $100 for an individual player, which includes 18 holes of golf, box lunch, buffet dinner, goody bag and entertainment during dinner by Bobalou’s Oldies but Goodies. Anyone wishing to register can do so by contacting Bob Chartock at 753-1613 or Jim Stinson 751-1726 via email at smavillagesfamiliesgolf@gmail.com or register on-line at http://events.curesma.org/smafamiliesinthevillagesgolf. Deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 11.

The event includes trophies to the top four teams. Also there will be a hole-in-one golf cart; 50/50 prize for closest-to-the-pin; prizes for closest to the line for the men and women; a silent auction and many other contests and events for prizes.
