A golf cart was struck by a sport utility vehicle at noon Wednesday near the Neighborhood Wal-Mart at Sarasota Plaza on County Road 466A in The Villages.
The driver of the golf cart had been northbound on Heald Way and was making a left turn onto the multi-modal path when he turned into the path of a Nissan SUV, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The SUV had been southbound on Heald Way.
The man who had been driving the golf cart was thrown to the ground in the collision. The SUV sustained major damage.
The driver of the golf cart suffered minor injuries and was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital. He was ticketed for violation of right of way.
