Fred Unger Jr.

Fred Unger Jr., 87, of The Villages FL, passed away at home on Friday June 8, 2018 from Alzheimer’s, surrounded by family. Born on January 1, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA to parents Fred and Frida (Duerr) Unger.

Fred was a veteran of the Korean War. After retiring from Rohm & Haas Co., Fred and his loving wife Hilda (of 66 years) moved to Florida in the 1980’s. Fred loved golf, dogs, traveling, dominos, cards, family and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents and survived by wife Hilda (Friz); son Robert and his wife Muffy (Dallas TX); granddaughter Carey (Durham NC); grandson Michael, his wife Carly and recent great-granddaughter Kinley (Kansas City MO).

The family is forever thankful for the years of support and care from their in-home caregivers and Cornerstone Hospice. They and Hilda made it possible for his years of exclusive home care.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held in PA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cornerstone Hospice or Habitat for Humanity would be appreciated.
