Franklin Wells, 85, of Leesburg, FL, passed away Monday, May 28. Born in Fulton, NY, Frank moved to Leesburg in the mid-1960s.
He was a retired educator, and spent 29 years at Leesburg High School. Frank was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a long-time member of Morrison United Methodist Church and a current member of Community United Methodist Church. Frank enjoyed videography, Syracuse basketball, and FSU football. He enjoyed traveling, eating at Cracker Barrel and loved Christmas time and his dogs, Bo and Bruiser.
Frank is survived by his children, Mary Ann Crandall (Bill), of Fruitland Park, William Wells, of Homosassa, and Sandi Moore, of Leesburg, five grandchildren, Skipper Wells, Brittany Lomberk, Justin Moore, Hunter Gnann and Jacob Moore and three great-grandchildren, his twin sister, Frances Ellen Calkin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Wells.
A visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1 at Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park.
