Firefighters cut roof off car to free man in crash on Historic Side

Firefighters had to cut the roof off a car to rescue a man who was trapped in his vehicle following a rollover accident at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on the Historic Side of The Villages.

The man had been traveling on Paradise Drive when he was apparently driving too fast around a curve, lost control of his vehicle, overcorrected and then flipped the car, according to a spokesman from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The Villages Public Safety Department responded to the scene and were forced to cut the roof off the automobile in order to free the 64-year-old man, who has not been identified. He reportedly lives on West Schwartz Boulevard.

He was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
