FHP releases new information about crash that left motorcyclist dead in Lake County during Bikefest

The Florida Highway Patrol has released additional information about an accident that left a motorcyclist dead in Lake County during Leesburg Bikefest.

Donald Troxel, 60, of Mulberry, died Saturday at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

The over-the-road trucker had been riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson at 2:05 p.m. that day westbound on County Road 48 when his motorcycle collided with a 2012 Hyundai four-door driven by 58-year-old Torri Saldivar of Coleman, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Saldivar had been southbound on State Road 33.

It has been determined that the Saldivar’s Hyundai made a left turn in front of the motorcycle.

Both the car and the motorcycle had a solid green light.

Troxel’s wife, Judith, who had been riding as a passenger on the motorcycle, was transported to LRMC with minor injuries. Neither had been wearing a helmet.

Saldivar suffered serious injuries and was also transported to LRMC.
