FHP identifies New Yorker who was killed in RV accident on I-75 in Sumter County

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a New York man who died after falling from an RV which struck a guardrail on Sunday morning on Interstate 75 Sumter County.

Keith Hertik, 52, of Bay Shore, N.Y., had been riding in a 1994 Ford RV driven by 31-year-old Joseph Rapoza, of Bradenton, Fla., according to an accident report from FHP.

The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of the RV accident on Interstate 75.

The RV had been traveling southbound at about 8 a.m. near Mile Marker 325 when Rapoza lost control of the vehicle and it struck a guardrail. Part of the left side of the RV was damaged in the collision and the man, who had been riding as a passenger behind the driver, fell from the vehicle.

Hertik was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he died of injuries suffered in the crash.

Rapoza escaped injury.
