Elizabeth F. Harriger

Elizabeth F. Harriger, age 94, of Lady Lake, FL, has fallen asleep in the arms of Jesus on August 5, 2018 and awakened with God in Eternity. Born March 8, 1924, Superior, Wisconsin, Elizabeth Frances IWASKO, her family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met and married our father Emanuel J. PAESE on May 3, 1942, and established an Italian-Polish home, raised 5 children, were married 46 years until his passing on December 1988 in Northlake, Illinois.

Mom “Betty” moved to Lady Lake, Florida, in 1991 to live near her sister, Genevieve. She was active at

All Faiths Chapel in Bible study and other church functions where she met and married Edwin Harriger on 3/10/94 and lived at Lakeview Terrace Retirement Village in Altoona, FL until he passed on 1/09/2007. She enjoyed playing Scrabble especially winning over daughters until age 91. She loved preparing our favorite meal of spaghetti and meatballs with sausage and peppers when we visited. She was a television news addict and loved Wheel of Fortune often reciting the answers.

We are blessed to have many offspring living from the joining of the IWASKO and PAESE clans – numerous children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins who will carry-on family traditions. We are sure to hear many GRANDMA PAESE stories like the one where she did a “quickie-version” of Italian Ravioli by pouring Chef Boyardi Pizza Sauce over cheese-filled Pierogi. Or when the Holidays came she would take the Dining Room table and turn it into a work space to roll out her Ravioli, cut them into squares, fill them and seal them up.

She is survived by her loving children: JANET M. PAESE (Joseph Barr deceased); EMANUEL “Mike” PAESE (Patricia deceased); CATHERINE LANAHAN (Joseph deceased); CONCETTA “Connie” MILLER; LOUISE STAHL (deceased) (Robert – deceased); preceded by her parents EDWARD and ANNA IWASKO. She was the last of 5 siblings: Genevieve (Samuel Cohen); Robert (deceased) (Dorothy – deceased); John (deceased) Bonita (deceased); Richard (deceased) (Joanne); grandchildren and great grandchildren: Julia Barr-Temesvary (Patrick) – children Brandon & Caitlyn; David Miller; Elizabeth Stahl-Hladik – children Timothy, Robert & Faith and son Greyson; Robert J. Stahl & Crystal – children Robert “R.J.” (Missy); Sharon Stahl; James Stahl (Jennifer); Julie Lanahan Roth – children Thomas & Ryan; Michael & Kelly Lanahan – children Joseph, Addison & Jacob; Anthony Lanahan (Nicole) – children Nora, Kate & Ella; Karen Paese (deceased); Denise Paese – children Alyse & Tierney.

A private interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
