Edward Charles ‘Angel’ Mowen

Edward Charles ‘Angel’ Mowen

Edward Charles Mowen (aka “Angel”), 84, of Summerfield, FL, passed away on January 21,2018 at home of a full and enjoyed life. Ed was born in Chicago, IL on July 20, 1933 to Ed and Estelle Mowen. Ed was the eldest sibling to brother, Bob of Schaumberg, IL; sister, Jean (2015); Joan, of Chicago, IL and Jane, of Mound, MN.

Ed was married to Dorothy Thompson on May 10, 1958 in Chicago. After beginning his career at Real Estate Research, Ed became Vice President-Real Estate at Eagle Foods, Milan, IL in 1960. In 1982, Ed joined Mel Foster Commercial Real Estate and focused on investments and development.

Ed enjoyed competitive softball, earning the nickname “Spider” as a 3rd baseman. Golf was the overriding passion in Ed’s life. It was once said that Ed lobbied Congress to add an eighth day of the week so that he could get another round in per week! He took great pride in 4 holes-in-one and holing two (2) 8-irons in one round in a PGA-Tour Pro-Am. Ed also shot his age on many occasions, which was quite a feat knowing that his putting stroke was rather suspect!

Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Ed & his wife, Julie of Trussville, AL; daughter, Terri & her husband Ed of Alpharetta, GA and son, Jim & his wife Shayo of Bentonville, AR; his grandchildren: Michael (Rebecca), Megan, Morgan (Brandon), Scott, Erik (Ashley) and Andrew; and his great-grandchildren: Tatum, Mason, Kameron, Brody, Hadley and Ava along with his siblings, Bob, Joan and Jane.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 15437 South US Hwy. 441, Summerfield, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s honor to the Christ Lutheran Church, Capital Building Fund, 15437 South US Hwy. 441, Summerfield, FL 34491.
