Early voting tops 2014 gubernatorial election numbers in Marion County

Marion County on Tuesday surpassed the total number of early voting ballots cast in Florida’s last gubernatorial election – and The Villages location was among the busiest of all nine that are open in the county.

So far, more than 27,000 early voting ballots already have been cast, compared to the 20,707 recorded in the 2014 general election, according to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

The first day of early voting, Thursday, Oct. 25, was the busiest ever for a gubernatorial election with 7,106 ballots cast. And the sites with the highest turnout have been the Mulberry Grove Recreation Center in The Villages, the Marion County Election Center and Freedom Public Library.

Marion County voters have through Saturday, Nov. 3 to vote early at any of the nine sites available, which can be located at VoteMarion.com. Unofficial turnout can be tracked at VoteMarion.com/Turnout.
