DUI suspect who mixed Xanax, booze tells deputies ‘Jesus drank wine and so did I’

Nicole Ann Mintner

A drunk driving suspect who reportedly mixed Xanax and booze told an arresting officer, “Jesus drank wine and so did I.”

Nicole Ann Mintner, 45, had been sleeping at the wheel of a silver Dodge parked at 10 p.m. Sunday at a construction area on State Road 44 and NE 40th Street, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The car’s hazards lights were activated and the engine was running.

When roused, she admitted she had taken Xanax.

She refused to remove her sunglasses and twice slapped a deputy on the shoulder.

She was “extremely uncooperative” and would not take part in field sobriety exercises at the scene.

In the Illinois native’s vehicle, prescription Xanax was found along with four empty Sutter Home sangria bottles in the center console.

“Jesus drank wine and so did I ,” Mintner told the deputy.

During the ride to the Sumter County Detention Center, Mintner “continuously would scream” and threatened to urinate in the patrol car.

At the jail, as the deputy was trying to explain field sobriety exercises, Mintner kept talking over the deputy and at one point began singing “Amazing Grace.” She exposed herself to the deputy and then threw her socks at a camera set up to record the field sobriety exercises.

During the breath test, Mintner expanded her cheeks as if she was blowing, although she was not actually blowing. She did not complete the test and refused to sign an implied consent warning.

“The defendant removed her right breast from her shirt and completely revealed it to the camera and jail staff,” the deputy wrote in the report.

Mintner was booked on charges of driving under the influence, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer.

Bond was set at $6,000.
