Sumter County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man early Sunday morning who had been driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 75 and almost collided with two other vehicles.

Deputies arrested Brian Langdon McMahon, 47, of Fort Myers on a felony charge of driving under the influence at an abandoned Shell gas station off I-75. When he exited the vehicle, McMahon was staggering and there were three unopened Budweiser beer bottles lying on the back seat, the arrest report indicated.

A computer check revealed McMahon had been convicted of DUI nine times between 1988 and 1996 in Georgia. He had also been convicted of DUI in 2003 in Virginia.

He was charged with felony DUI and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $10,000.
