Dorothy Asdal

Dorothy Asdal, born on Staten Island, NY Sept. 6, 1918; died Dec. 25, 2017 in The Villages, FL.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Asdal, married for 74 years; son Douglas Asdal; grandson Kurt Asdal; two sisters; and two brothers.

Dorothy graduated in 1939 from nursing school and became an RN. She worked several years as a visiting nurse and then returned to her nursing career in the late ‘50’s and became administrator of Egger Lutheran Nursing Home, Staten Island. She and her husband, in 1963 moved to Camp Koinonia, Highland Lake, NY where John was the resident manager and Dorothy was the resident nurse and food service manager. In 1982 they retired and moved to Lakewood, NJ, and later moved to The Villages in 2004, where they joined Hope Lutheran Church. While in the The Villages she enjoyed golfing, bridge, and many of the activities available in The Villages.

She is survived by her son Clifford (Pamela) Asdal; granddaughters Kristin (Bill) Potter, Tamra (Rob) Adams, and Denise Asdal (Bryan Valett); great-grandchildren Megan and Emma Adams, and Samantha Valett.

Memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages on Friday, January 26, 2018 11 a.m. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery with her late husband.
